What Fitbit activity counts toward Paceline eHR Minutes?

Did you get a new Fitbit?

If your new Fitbit is set up under the same Fitbit account you’re already linked to Paceline, you don’t need to do anything else.

Did you get a new Phone?

When you get a new Phone, the Paceline app is automatically transferred over and generally you don't have to do anything else. In uncommon cases, your permissions might need to be reauthorized. If your Fitbit is syncing with your new phone but not with Paceline, please follow these steps:

  1. Delete and reinstall the Paceline app
  2. Unlink and relink Fitbit:

Why isn't my Fitbit activity syncing to Paceline?

If your Fitbit activity isn’t appearing in Paceline, don’t worry — it’s usually a simple permissions or connection issue.

The steps below will help refresh the connection so your movement is recognized and counted toward your progress.

Required Settings (iPhone)

In order for Paceline to work, you must enable the following settings on your iPhone:

  1. SettingsPrivacy & SecurityMotion & Fitness → Turn Fitness Tracking and Health ON.

Why: This allows Fitbit to accurately capture and report movement data.

  1. SettingsBluetoothON

Why: Fitbit syncs to the Fitbit app via Bluetooth before syncing data to Paceline.

  1. SettingsGeneralBackground App RefreshPacelineON

Why: This allows Fitbit to sync heart rate, steps, and Active Minutes in the background.

Required Settings (Android)

In order for Paceline to work, you must enable the following settings on your Android phone:

  1. Settings → Apps → Fitbit → Permissions →Turn On Physical Activity and Nearby Devices / Bluetooth, and Location
Why: Required by Fitbit for Bluetooth scanning, allows Fitbit to sync your heart rate, steps, and Active Minutes.
  2. Settings → Apps → Fitbit → Battery → Unrestricted (or Allow background activity, depends on the phone)
Why: This prevents Android from pausing Fitbit sync in the background.
  3. Settings → Network & Internet → Data Usage → Fitbit → Background Data → ON
Why: This ensures Fitbit can send and receive data even when the app isn’t open.
  4. Settings → Bluetooth → ON

Why: Fitbit must sync via Bluetooth before Paceline can read your data.

Tips to improve reliability

  • Keep your Fitbit and phone in close proximity during workouts
  • Leave Bluetooth ON, especially after workouts
  • Open Paceline at least once a week to maintain smooth background sync behavior
  • Fitbit weeks default to Sunday–Saturday, but Paceline weeks run Monday 00:00 → Sunday 23:59 (your local time), you can change Fitbit’s week to start on Monday: Fitbit app → Today tab → profile picture → App Settings → Start Week On → Monday
